Father’s day



Father’s day is a day to celebrate and honor the father and a kind of strengthening the paternal bonds, it is considered as expressing to thank fathers and a way of showing their influence on the society. The most countries celebrate in the third Sunday of June, but other celebrates widely in the other day. Father’s day is a celebration and complements to the mother’s day in a kind of honor the parents. The first country which celebrates in father’s day is U.S.A in early of the 20th century in order to complement the celebration of the mother’s day.
In Spokane, Washington father’s day was founded in 1910 by Sonora Smart. She was born in Arkansas and in June 19, 1910 she made the first father’s day for her father during the civil war and she was one of the sixth children who celebrated in father’s day.
The celebration did not success so much and the idea did not been acceptable by most of people there, until 1930 when Sonora retuned again to promote for the celebration of the father’s day by increasing the consciousness on the national level. Then she was able to strengthen it through the commercial advertisement companies.
And in 1913 the Congress presented a bill to accord national recognition of the holiday for the father’s day. And in 1916 the president Wilson spoke about the father’s day and wanted to make it official day. But in 1966, the president Jonson issued the first presidential proclamation to honor the fathers in the third Sunday of June in Father’s day.
father’s days celebrations differs around the world, for example in Italy, Portugal, Bolivia celebrated on March 19 of each year, and in countries such as India, Ghana, Pakistan, Switzerland and Turkey celebrated on June 21, 2009. This is the day an official holiday in countries such as the United States.
